The Northeast Corridor is currently riding a weather rollercoaster: it’s a temperate grassland one day, and a frozen tundra the next. The only constant is the warm slippers on my feet. I got the UGG Diara Boot in Hickory/Sand in late fall and have gotten consistent wear out of them. Read on for my thoughts on this elevated slipper.
CONSTRUCTION
The UGG Diara Boot is a stylish fur-trimmed slipper boot with more structure than “classic” UGG boots. And while the lace-up detail is semi-decorative, it is not as easy to put on as an open-heeled slipper (the 5″ shaft can be straightened out, or folded down to about 3″), especially if you have wider feet or a high instep. The upside is that it transitions easily for outdoor wear.
The Diara Boot is lined in 17mm of a material called UGGplush, which is repurposed wool with a textile backing. And even with UGG’s standard-issue Treadlite by UGG™ outsole, the Diara is not a snow shoe (i.e., the upper is not weatherproofed), so should not be worn in snow or slush.

PRICE
$120 is a lot to pay for slipper boots, but the Diara is one of the cheaper cold-weather options that UGG offers. You alone decide if its elevated appearance (BIITEOTB) and branding justify the markup. And it is considered a “classic” style, so will not be discounted as heavily as seasonal styles .
FIT
The Diara fits true to size (the thick and fluffy lining ensures a snug fit); if you are in between sizes, try the next size up, even though the Diara has a forgiving round-toe.

DRAWBACKS
The Diara has shoe laces that are too long for a single knot. This fact bothered me way more than I thought it would, so I wanted to highlight it here. Another detail that you should account for is the shoe’s stiff(er) upper (as compared to UGG classic boots), an effect of the moccasin stitching. The midsoles are also not particularly supportive, so would not be good for long walks.
