Ann Taylor Spring Arrivals & Winter Sale (Extra 40% Off Sale + 20% off on $100 and more)

I thought I was all Ann Taylor’ed out after a relentless sale season but their spring arrivals made my heart beat a little faster than usual. The current promotion is only 30% off (code : SPRING30) which typically isn’t enough of an incentive for me but I ordered the Promenade Coat to try anyway.

I also ordered a few recently reduced sale items. I think Ann Taylor marked down a batch of previously full-price items this morning and with the extra 40% off (no code required) and the stackable 20% off on orders of $100 and more coupon (10000004822), the sale items all of a sudden became appealing.

Sequin Front Halter | Sequin Front Merino Wool Cardigan

These are two items that I ordered before Christmas, the skirt was a return for me because it didn’t fit me properly but the clutch was a well received present.

Petite Sequin Mini Skirt | Sequin Clutch

The Jet Lace Necklace is merely $19.99 in stores (no additional discount apply) but the golden lace necklace is $99.99 online plus an additional 40 percent off. I picked up both necklaces because I think they are simply gorgeous. Consider the fact that I almost pulled the trigger at full price, I think these are pretty good deals. They are both currently sold out online but the stores should have plenty of stock. (You can also order by phone and have the necklaces sent to you for $7.50)

I also picked up the matching golden lace cuff, marked down to 59.99 in stores and the glitter bangle, which got marked down online today.

And I can’t express in words how much I love the vibrant “chili pepper” red that Ann Taylor splattered all over their fall and spring arrivals. I tried the jewel neck jacket a little while ago but decided to return it because it was ill-fitting. I do plan on eventually buying everything else once they come closer to my target price range.

Edited: a few sale styles that are still available in small sizes: Woodland Cable Crew Neck Sweater, Cascade Lapel Sleeveless Top (also in petite), Petite Lady Tweed Jacket, Cropped Drop Shoulder Top, Cropped 3/4 Sleeve Cardigan, Foil Detailed Cable Sweater, Tie Neck Halter Top, Twist Front Short Sleeve Top, Petite Flurry Print Ruched Shoulder Long Sleeve Blouse, and Petite Colorblocked Side Button Sleeveless Top.

Have you ordered from Ann Taylor recently? What did you get? Did you keep it or return it?

OOTD Featuring the J. Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Leopard

I am a novice when it comes to donning bold prints and the leopard print in particular is a pattern I only recently grew comfortable wearing. This no. 2 pencil skirt in leopard (here in petite) is the first leopard print clothing item I bought and I am playing it safe by styling it with like colors and neutrals.

J. Crew Coat & Skirt, Ann Taylor blouse (similar) & belt (in black), and YSL shoes (similar)

J. Crew skirts rarely fit me perfectly off the rack. In my ideal world the waist would be an inch smaller and the length an inch shorter but with a belt the skirt is passable. At $118, the 100% cotton skirt is quite overpriced but I haven’t found a pattern I liked as much as J. Crew’s version so this is a keeper for me.

I see myself wearing it with a sweater tucked in for early spring or pairing it with a sequin top for a more glam evening look. I’ll be experimenting with a few more ideas in the next few weeks.

Here are a few more options to consider:

Leopard print accessories are generally welcomed by most but are leopard print clothing items too much? What are your thoughts?

OOTD: Green Dress

I have an odd affinity to the color green. To be honest I didn’t care for the color before college but after attending a school whose mascot and school color are both green for four years, I eventually grew to love it. Now I can’t walk into a store and not be stopped by things in green.

Do you have a color (or a print) you never thought you’d like but now love?

Burberry Trench (also here), H&M Dress, Ann Taylor Belt, and Stuart Weitzman Pumps (and here)

The dress is knee length but I used fashion tape to raise the hemline a little because I am bothered by the skirt to coat proportion

And since orange is the new black, I came home from H&M the other day with an arm full of orange items (unintentional). The dress is a new arrival but the two skirts are currently on sale. The midi length one in the middle fits TINY. The size 2 measures just short of 11 inches across the waist. If I had tried it on in stores I probably would’ve left it behind but since I came home with it I’ll try to make it work. Have you caught the orange bug yet?

OOTD: Skirt Length Dilemma

One of the challenges in wearing my shorter Burberry trench is skirt length. For some reason my aesthetics are trained to enjoy coats no more than 3 inches shorter than the skirt/dress so this has proven to be a unique challenge. This particular outfit was comfortable to wear but in pictures bothered me because the trench seems two inches too short for it.

Or maybe I am looking for an excuse to get Burberry trench #2.

When it comes to pairing dresses/skirts with short trenches/coats, do you go long, short or stick with pants?

p.s. Woah, and I just realized how hopelessly repetitive I am. This outfit looks eerily similar to an outfit from a previous post.

Quick ASOS Review

As promised, more comparison photos of my ASOS order. I would do these in one fell swoop but it’s kind of demoralizing trying on things that fit poorly. I haven’t had the best luck with ASOS recently.

ASOS Chiffon Sleeveless Pussy Bow Blouse – Regular UK6/US2
Material Composition – body: 100% Viscose; mesh: 100% Polyester

Measurements – 21″ in length, 18″ from underarm to underarm

Thoughts: Returned. The color isn’t very flattering on me. I am undecided about the gray.

ASOS Ruffle Placket Blouse – Regular US2/UK6 – Nude
Material Composition: 100% Polyester
Thoughts: I really loved how it looked in the stock photos but in real life it’s a loose shapeless mess. Returning this.

ASOS Ruffle Placket Blouse – Regular US2/UK6 – Harvest Gold
Material Composition: 100% Polyester
Thoughts: I like this color a lot and it could’ve filled the void left by the Ann Taylor Silk Trench Shirt but the fit was way off.

ASOS Cropped Pussy Bow Blouse – Regular US2/UK6 – Nude
Material Composition: 100% viscose (body); 100% polyester (tie)
Thoughts: I like that it’s a super cropped fit (which girls with short torso’s would benefit from; I personally have a long torso so it’ll require some styling to not look off) but it’s still really expensive for what it is. Maybe at $10ish dollars I’ll reorder.

I also couldn’t figure out how to get it on. It was incredibly confusing.

Nishe Lace Bodysuit With Jewel Embellished Collar – Regular US4/UK8
Composition: 70% Cotton, 30% Polyester
Thoughts: I like that it comes with a cotton “slip but it’s really long and still really expensive even after the 20% discount. I think if the price goes down to the $40 range I would order again to keep and further scrutnize.

I was going to just withhold this picture but thought it illustrated best how this bodysuit fits. The length is way too long and what should’ve been the crotch area extended to halfway down the length of my shorts.

Click on the following pictures if you see something you like, I’ve linked them to the corresponding item on the ASOS website. Let me know if I made a mistake in here somewhere. Thanks!
