Fashion’s long-term trajectory continues to trend toward further casualization, but there have been some short-term reversals, from the return of high heels to Gen Z’s reclamation of corsets. However, in the cooler months, comfort comes first, so I’ve traded in slinky dresses and metallic flats for soft knits and shearling-lined footwear.
I recently ordered several matching knit sets off Amazon and wanted to share two styles (a lilac set from ETCYY and a striped set from SAUKOLE) that I can’t stop wearing. They can be worn together or styled separately: I especially like how the relaxed fit of the cardigan allows for it to be easily worn over sweater dresses.
Both sets are cut generously throughout; while the waist is elasticized, it has no drawstring to allow for adjustments, so size down if you prefer a more tailored fit. And even though the pant legs are too long for shorter legs (and might look ill-fitting on those who are especially petite), they have a softly gathered hem, so won’t drag or touch the ground.
The ~$50 price tag is fair for a set that can be worn and re-worn, but the drapey waffle-knit material–a mid-weight viscose/nylon/polyester blend–feels mediocre, and loose threads and occasionally messy stitching point to poor workmanship. But I haven’t been able to find similar styles in the right colorway or fit, so these will have to suffice for now.
