In my personal life, I welcome the challenge of cramming everything that I might need into a backpack regardless of the trip length; but for business trips, I make an effort to pack more for neatness and less for efficiency. One recent addition to my rolling luggage collection is the LEVEL8 Grace Luggage 3 Piece Set, which can handle both short business trips and longer, multi-stop journeys. Over the last three months, I put this hard-shelled trio through its paces: a transpacific trip, two cross-country flights, and the usual airport indignities. Now, with several thousand miles behind me, I have some thoughts to share.
Out of the box, I was immediately impressed with the set’s clean lines and sleek navy exterior; the design is professional enough for business travel, but with distinguishing marks that ensure the bags won’t get lost in a sea of black suitcases on the baggage carousel.
Each set comes with an (expandable) 20″ carry-on, a roomy 24″ checked luggage, and a cavernous 28″ checked size. The PC+ABS material is lightweight yet durable, and all three pieces in this set have been designed with internal organization–dividers, cross straps, and multiple pockets–that guards against overpacking. Together, the three feel well-calibrated to different trip lengths and purposes. I wouldn’t call it a capsule wardrobe for travel, exactly, but it has the same modular appeal.
Three months in, these hard-sided bags show wear in all the right ways: light scuffs that suggest use rather than abuse; rubber-covered spinner wheels that roll smoothly and are easy to maneuver; height-adjustable handles that can be stowed or extended effortlessly; and zipper closures that are satisfying to close. This is not a transformative piece of luggage in terms of features, but it delivers reliability and value in spades.
And for those who care about warranties, this set comes with a lifetime coverage on shell, wheels, handles, and zippers. I hope never to need it, but I appreciate that LEVEL8 stands behind its products.
If you travel often, this is a workhorse set worth considering. It manages to feel premium without being precious: it’s substantial where it matters, but remains lightweight enough to maneuver with ease.
