If you are a tweed enthusiast, don’t sleep on J.Crew’s spring collection–I’ve tried just about every tweed piece on offer, and decided to keep ~80% of what I ordered… despite some minor fit issues stemming from the lack of petite sizes, but it’s nothing that my tailor can’t fix.
Among my many tweed purchases is the Sophia Sleeveless Midi Dress in Tweed. The “Honeycomb Yellow” is a cheerful color that I can see myself reaching for repeatedly in warm weather, and the shiny gold buttons and square neckline add the right amount of visual interest. But it’s not without drawbacks: the material–a lighter weight tweed–is 55% wool and 45% polyester, must be dry-cleaned; and I will need to shorten both the shoulder straps and the hem to make dress fit properly on my shorter frame (the dress as shown in this post is pre-alterations).
The fit is otherwise true to size for J.Crew. In size 00, the dress measures 16″ across the underarm, 13″ at the waist, and 41″ in length.
