October in the Northeast can occasionally feel almost summery, but I can’t recall a consistently warm (and dry) start to November like the one we are seeing this year. While the forecast for the rest of the month looks more in line with late-fall in New England, I feel a bit unsettled by the unseasonably warm weather.
Higher temperatures haven’t done much to dampen my enthusiasm for fall fashion: I picked up several plaid pieces last month, among them is the J.Crew Leighton Blazer Jacket in Plaid Double Faced Wool in Grey Brown Plaid (that’s quite a mouthful). The fabric, a majority wool blend, feels comfortable to wear and is soft to the touch; the weight is perfect for transitional weather while still providing structure to the design.
The fit is true to size but the jacket has a relaxed silhouette so those with a smaller frame might consider sizing down for a more tailored fit. I struggled a bit with the standing collar, but when I really try, I can force them into shawl lapels that don’t want to stay folded.
