I picked up this Seven Wonders maxi dress on a whim—and on final sale—from Shopbop earlier this year. While the cut isn’t ideal for my frame, it combines three of my current obsessions: a butter yellow color, fruit and tile prints, and a longer length that is both cooling and cool to wear. It’s become, somewhat unexpectedly, one of my most-worn pieces this summer. I wear it on its own on hotter days, or layered under a basic white tee and styled with eye-catching costume jewelry for a touch more drama.
This dress—and a growing collection of similarly expressive but not-too-loud printed maxis that can be filed under the “Italian coastal summer” aesthetic—has become my weekend summer uniform. While I have no immediate plans to visit the Amalfi Coast, this dress makes even a trip to the farmers market feel like being on vacation.
