The first day of fall is still a week away, but Northeast dwellers have already entered the “three seasons in a day” time of year: we wake up in late spring, eat lunch in peak summer, and watch the sun set in early fall. Because of the dramatic temperature swings, I am never too far from a trench coat, my autumn outerwear of choice.
And once cooler weather take hold, foundational pieces like sweater dresses and leather boots will again ground my every outfit. It’s oddly comforting having this winning cooling-weather uniform trifecta to fall back on.
