It’s never been easier to shop for premium leggings: no matter how exacting your standards are, as long as you have the budget, you can find leggings that check all of the boxes.
There was a time when I would buy a pair of leggings just because they were the right length. These days, however, my leggings have to be, at a minimum, carefully seamed in order to provide structure and shape, and the fabric has to feel stretchy, substantial and compressive; most importantly (to me), they have to have usable (i.e., non-coin-sized) zippered pockets.
One of my favorite pairs of leggings is the exceptionally well-reviewed Athleta Headlands Hybrid Tight: the fully opaque technical fabric is street-ready, and the pocket details add visual interest. The style is fitted but not constrictive, and is available in extended sizes: sizes 0-26 and three size types (regular, tall, and petite). I ordered my normal Athleta size (0P), which fit well in terms of tightness and length.
