I stepped back from blogging this year because sharing outfits requires an emotional buoyancy I often struggled to find when the news cycle felt relentless. I didn’t lose interest in clothing or fashion, but there is a sharp, specific discomfort and dissonance in feeling frivolous while the world roiled.

I hope to return to writing with more consistency next year, but I’m trying not to force it. What I do know is that this small corner of the internet still gives me joy.
On the last day of the year, I’ve been thinking about where to place my energy… how to turn helplessness into action, or at least into care. If you’re looking to do the same, I’ve listed a few organizations below whose work helps address urgent needs in public health, childhood welfare, and essential infrastructure. Even a small donation can make a meaningful difference.
+ UNICEF: a United Nations agency that delivers critical humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
+ Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières: an NGO that provides urgent medical care where the need is greatest, treating everything from malnutrition to infectious diseases to conflict-related trauma.
+ Save The Children Fund: an NGO dedicated to improving lives through better education, health care, and economic opportuinty.
+ WaterAid: an NGO focused on access to clean water, safe sanitation, hygiene behavior change, and advocacy with governments and water utilities.
I also want to highlight the Lānaʻi Cat Sanctuary, a place close to my heart (and home to one of my favorite photos of the year: me with Cajones, who made me feel like a safe harbor). Your donation helps care for hundreds of rescue cats living their happiest island lives.
