Padded Vest + Combat Boots

The landscape is currently frozen solid, but before this latest cold spell, I had been living in a long padded vest that I picked up from Zara last year. It became an immediate favorite, as the padding keeps me warm (in relatively cold conditions) while freeing my arms to spin windmill style (if I choose to). If you don’t already own one, I highly recommend getting a longer vest for early spring (which can’t come soon enough).

Some similar options I found online:

Quay Australia Honey Cat-Eye Sunglasses • J. Crew Cable-Knit Turtleneck Sweater-Dress (past season; similar here and here) • Zara Padded Vest in Black (past season; style code: 0/8073/248/800/02) • Madewell The Transport Shoulder Crossbody Bag: Box Leather Edition (reviewed here) • DREAM PAIRS Knee High Boots in Black/Knitting (size 7.5)

In sale news, the Madewell The Transport Shoulder Crossbody Bag: Box Leather Edition that I wore above is on sale and back in stock online. I reviewed this bag in another leather type and colorway here, but box leather is “boardier,” so this bag is not as pliable or capacious as the version I reviewed last year, which remains full-price online.

The boots are super cute on you. Was amazed to find that they were from Dreampairs – how do you find them?

Hi Emily. I hope your weekend is off to a good start.

About the shoes: I really like them–they are pull-on (the uppers are mostly knit) so I don’t have to wrestle with laces, and aside from a tiny bit of bunching around the ankles when I sit down they fit me really well with Smartwool socks. I am actually partnering with Dream Pairs on a review post, and this is my favorite pair of the six or so styles that I tried. The quality is very reasonable for ~$70 knee-high boots. I would recommend them for those who can wear medium width shoes.

Just saw this and your full Dream Pairs review. Thank you! I was considering them as it’s hard to be sure if you want to invest a lot of money in a style or trend – so if they’re comfortable and last at least 2-3 years of seasonal wear they do seem like a good option. Have a great week!
