J.Crew’s long-awaited comeback has already been set back by sticky apparel prices and depressed consumer sentiments. Like many fashion retailers, J.Crew is feeling the full breadth of price pressures.
While the brand continues to struggle in a challenging economic climate, I have noticed real improvements in product quality, from all-linen shift dresses to sub-$200 100% cashmere cricket sweaters.
My favorite J.Crew purchase this year, however, is the Emilie Patch-Pocket Sweater Lady Jacket. The medium weight–100% cotton–material comfortably holds structure and is substantial enough for transitional weather. In terms of fit, while my normal size fit well, I thought the extra length on the next size up suited me better.
In size XS, the jacket measures 17.5″ in length, 19″ from underarm to underarm, and 21″ in sleeve length.
While the Emilie is only available in regular sizes, the sleeve length is unexpectedly perfect on 5’2 me and didn’t require any folding or fussing. And the slightly cropped length of the jacket also pairs easily with high-waisted bottoms and dresses and skirts with shorter hemlines.

I had something similar for quite a while. This post is an inspiration for my today outfit: a black lace dress paired with a stripped black and white jacket and red heels.
Thank you for always providing me inspiration to dress up.
<3 Love that pop of red with a black and white outfit. Thanks for your always kind words.
