Puddle pants are plentiful for petite women, but it’s much harder to find drapey styles in a cropped length. One work appropriate option that I found in this fit is J. Crew’s Sydney Wide-Leg Pant (last seen on me here). In petite sizes, the hem falls above the ankle on 5’2 me, and the pant can be worn easily with ankle boots or low-profile loafers and sneakers.
The fabric, J.Crew’s “four-season stretch“–64% Polyester, 31% Viscose, and 5% Elastane–is heavier-weight and maintains its shape well but isn’t suitable for humid summers, though it can be worn comfortably in transitional/cooler weather and well air-conditioned offices. The style is well-suited for work, but can be dressed down easily as the higher rise pairs effortlessly with cropped tops.
The style runs slightly large to size, so size down if you are in between sizes. But those with fleshier thighs should stick to their normal size as the the style isn’t cut with extra room in the seat and thigh.
