Review: Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag 1L vs 2L

If you are a fan of the Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag in the 1L size, but wish it were a touch larger to allow for the stashing of a few more items, the “Large” 2L Everywhere Belt Bag might be a nice addition to your belt bag collection. The 2L size is similarly lightweight, and has the same number of useful pockets to hold–and keep separate–your essentials.

The “Large” Everywhere Belt Bag is made from the same water-repellent 100% nylon material that its smaller sibling is constructed from. The exterior can be spot cleaned but should not be hand or machine washed; the mesh pockets and liner are 100% polyester and can be wiped clean with a wet cloth.

The Everywhere Bag in both sizes has one main compartment, with two small mesh pockets on one interior wall and one larger mesh pocket on the other for keeping apt-to-wander objects in their place.

The exterior back zippered pocket is large enough to fit a larger smartphone (for example, my phone in its case measures about 6″ tall and 3″ wide), a pack of gum, keys, and a few mini beauty products.

At 8.3″ W x 5.7″ H x 2.2″ D, the “Large” Everywhere Belt Bag is not markedly larger than its 1L sibling (7.5″ W x 5″ H x 2″ D), and neither is a perfect replacement for all-day bags. But compared to the 1L size, the Large 2L size is slightly better suited for travel, as it can double as a personal item for flights, while the 1L is best for short hikes or quick errands.

Both bags can be worn on the shoulder, across the body, slung over one shoulder, or cinched around the waist. Even on a smaller person (I am 5’2), the Everywhere Belt Bag in the 2L size did not feel overwhelming, though it looked best worn as a sling bag than as a belt bag.

The difference in strap length, at the longest setting, is about 3″ between the two sizes (45″ for the 2L size and 42″ for the 1L), and the strap length can be adjusted easily.

The $10 price difference between the “Large” Everywhere Belt Bag ($48) and the regular Everywhere Belt Bag ($38) probably isn’t pronounced enough to sway Lululemon’s target audience in one direction or another. The modest size differential is really the distinguishing mark here.

As mentioned in my review of the “small” Everywhere Belt Bag, because of the design’s popularity, you are unlikely to find discounts on these Lululemon bestsellers, even on resale sites.

An even more affordable and similarly lightweight option is the Uniqlo Round Mini Shoulder Bag (reviewed here). While Uniqlo’s offering is visually bulkier and cannot be worn around the waist, it fits more than either Everywhere Bag so could be a better option for those who need more space.

Hate mesh in fanny packs. Get zipper pockets for the inside instead.
