While I’ve always been a fan of cargo pants–just think of the possibilities those oversized pockets hold(!)–it hasn’t been easy finding options that complemented a shorter stature… until recently. With the Y2K revival, updated takes on this multi-pocketed utilitarian style are not in short supply.
These days, you can find the much-maligned cargo pant in more than a stiff, hard-wearing material: for denim fans, try a cargo jean; for the fall, try a cargo trouser in faux-leather; and for those with shorter legs, a tapered jogger style will ensure a more tailored fit.
I can’t emphasize enough how convenient it is to have oversized pockets in which to temporarily stash my phone and keys while running an errand. When the fashion plates come for the cargo pant, they’ll have to pry it out of my (extremely unwilling) hands.
