Two Ways to Wear an Eyelet Peplum Top

Peplum hasn’t felt fresh as a trend in close to a decade (even though I never fully stopped buying things with overskirts), which is a fact that brings me no joy. Thankfully fashion is cyclical, and all trends eventually emerge from obsolescence.

One recent addition to my peplum collection is this Eyelet Peplum Halter Shell from LOFT. I like the soft(er) fit*, which doesn’t overwhelm shorter frames, and how the overskirt extends naturally from the waist. The “Lively Coral” color is also unexpectedly versatile and pairs easily with bottoms in muted colors.

* I sized up further to achieve a truly relaxed fit.

Le Specs Armada 54mm Cat Eye Sunglasses (also sold here and here) • LOFT Eyelet Peplum Halter Shell in Lively Coral (size XSP) • Ann Taylor Wide Leg Marina Pant (rereleased here as the The Wide Leg Crop Pant) • Oroton’s Margot Mini Day Bag (reviewed here) • Ann Taylor Liv Leather Block Heel Sandals (past season; similar here)
Le Specs Armada 54mm Cat Eye Sunglasses (also sold here and here) • Forever 21 Layered Medallion Necklace (similar here) • LOFT Eyelet Peplum Halter Shell in Lively Coral (size XSP) • Zara Textured Skort in Multicolored (past season; style code: 0/8741/233/330/01) • Ulla Johnson Perle Bag (past season) • J. Crew Sardinia Ankle-Wrap Heeled Sandals

For another wear to wear this pretty eyelet top: shorten the length by tucking the hem into an elastic band wrapped around your torso (the elastic should gently hug your body, not constrict it in any way).
