The heat broke this week, as we near the first day of fall. While I’ll miss summer staples like crop tops and short shorts, there are some warm-weather pieces that I am determined to “autumnize,” like slip skirts—the one that I am wearing here is very affordable and comes in 17 colorways; it fits slightly large to size and has an elastic waist, so size down if you are in between sizes–which don’t take much to adapt for cooler weather, just add an oversized sweater or a structured blazer.

If you are wondering how I managed to “tuck” an oversized sweater into a silky slip skirt without creating a bulky mess: I didn’t. The hem of the sweater is tucked into a separate elastic band around my high waist, which is a no-sew way to quickly “shorten” a heavier top.
I used an elastic belt with a button closure since it was already in my closet, but any elastic band cut to approximately the size of your torso will suffice (the elastic should gently hug your body, not constrict it in any way).
