First, a word about the posting schedule: Work has completely taken over my waking life, leaving me with so little energy that I lack the wherewithal to complete the many half-written drafts that I previously started. Posting may remain sporadic for the little while.
You all know I love J. Crew tweed dresses and think they are generally well-priced for classic styles in interesting fabrics. The ivory and red speckled tweed used for this dress is perfect for spring.
Related: I made a mistake in setting up the camera to take these outfit photos, so a lot of color was lost and had to be added back in (poorly). I posted a photo on IG the other day which shows the dress in natural light. And below is the tweed pictured in warmer light:
While I really like the idea of a shift dress done in a light(er) tweed material, I was initially hesitant about keeping this dress for two reasons: 1) there are metallic threads, of which I am not a fan, woven throughout, and 2) the completely nonfunctional front pockets bug me.
The easy silhouette and classic style ultimately sold me though, as I can see myself reaching for this often. It’s suitable for work, but can also transition seamlessly into weekend wear without seeming too formal.
The dress is only available in one size type (regular), but in the absence of a defined waistline, works well on 5’2 me without alterations. The dress fits true to size otherwise.
In size 00, the dress measures 16.5″ from underarm to underarm, 34.5″ in overall length, and about 7″ in the length of the armscye.
