Review: J. Crew Easy Pant in Lace

A closet favorite, the J. Crew Easy Pant in Lace, has returned in four colorways this fall. It was a marquee piece in my bleisure wardrobe so I wanted to quickly review the item now that it’s on sale (sale details below).

What my outfits lack in bright colors, I try to make up in texture and prints, as those add visual interest in a subtler way. So, if your wardrobe feels a little stale at the moment due to a lack of texture, I’d recommend adding a pair of these lace pants to your closet, as many old outfits can be imagined anew with this piece.

The construction and material are fair for the price ($110 at retail, but sales are abundant). The pants are fully lined, and are designed with side and (somewhat shallow thus more decorative in nature) back pockets. I also like the scalloped hem, which is a sweet touch.

The floral lace shell is quite pretty (45% viscose/31% nylon/24% cotton) but is dry-clean only. I’ve hand-washed the pants in cold water, and air-dried in the past without issue, but would advise against machine washing anything with a lace shell.

The fit is true to size for the “easy pant,” which is cropped in length and fitted in the leg. While the elastic waist is forgiving, if you have thick legs (like me), you may need to size up, as the pantlegs fit slim. In size 00P, the pants measure (taken flat) 12.5″ at the waist, 17.5″ across the hip, 6″ at the leg opening, and 33″ in length, with a 22″ inseam. Last year’s version fits a little more generously than this year’s; the measurements provided above are of this year’s version (fall 2018).

These pants, along with nearly everything at J. Crew, are currently on sale during J. Crew’s first Friends & Family event: use code FRIENDS for 30% off your order, or, for J. Crew Rewards members (membership is free), use code FAMILY for 35% off your order.

Sweeten the sale by stacking an extra 15% off code: if you are a J.Crew cardholder, simply enter code CARDPARKS at checkout (following selection of a payment option). If you are not a J. Crew cardholder, you can get a unique, one-time use code by signing up for emails for the first time (the code will be emailed to you within ~15 minutes of enrollment).

Shipping is free on all orders for J. Crew Rewards members; or $5 for standard shipping.
