I have a new vice: it’s the sporadic (though not infrequent), aimless browsing of The RealReal. At this time, it does not present a major time drain–just a minute here, and a minute there–done mostly when I am waiting in line at the grocery store or on hold to be connected. I want to say I anticipated, but did not preempt, the problem: while I never got into the habit of regularly browsing, say, the new arrivals section or broader category pages which might be time-consuming, my aimless browsing has already resulted in some unplanned purchases that have put strain on my closet capacity.
One part of me is impressed by my own efficiency, because all I’ve done is bookmark a few pages that have some filters applied–individual designer, a limited size range, and sort by newest. The designers I bookmark are fairly niche and only a few new styles are added weekly, which is why the time commitments are minimal, but I have already bought like ten things (including the Red Valentino dress from this post) over the last few months, and that outpaces the rate at which I part with like items.
