I’m partnering with Ann Taylor today to share my picks for its Semi Annual Sale, which started last week. Before we get to my sale picks, I want to first highlight this swiss dot shell-and-skirt set that I picked up recently, which (along with all full-price styles) is 46% off with code MAKEPLANS until Monday night.
I will be packing all five pieces featured here for an upcoming trip, which is a short work trip extended to include a weekend (for visiting friends and eating #igworthy food). And bringing the two-piece set (along with some neutral wardrobe workhorses: see the wide-leg crop pant on me here; and the sweater jacket on me here) ensures that I will have to make no difficult fashion decisions on this trip.
All five pieces also require no special handling and are travel-ready: wrinkle-resistant, machine-washable, and space-saving. If my trip were longer, I would also bring the Short-Sleeve Tie Waist Shirtdress, which I find to be eminently wearable and effortlessly chic.
And here are my picks for the semi-annual sale, which covers both sale and full-price styles: sale styles are an extra 50% off until 07/30/18 (no code needed; the discount will reflect in cart); and full-price styles are 46% off with code MAKEPLANS until Monday night.
Mila Leather Pumps (reviewed here) I own this shoe in five different iterations, and it is my favorite work pump. The rare shoe that is a trifecta: comfortable, stylish, and reasonably-priced. Fits true to size for those with wide feet, or size down if you have narrow- or medium-width feet.
Embroidered Dot Tassel Scarf I got this scarf at 40% off retail and thought that was a reasonable price. Now it’s less than $25 after discounts and I plan to order another to gift. The embroidered dots and playful tassels add the right amount of whimsy to the design. It instantly elevates the basic white-tee-and-jeans ensemble.
Rosalyn Suede Leaf Heeled Sandals I own these shoes in three colorways now (I know that’s overkill, but when I find a shoe I love, I like to stock up on it). They are a perfect special occasion shoe: the three-inch heels are very wearable, and the bows add just the right touch of fun. Fits true to size for Ann Taylor (size down if you have narrow- or medium-width feet).
Bow Strap Sheath Dress (from this post) For anyone looking for a LBD, this is a timeless piece that I would urge you to consider. It’s perfect for special occasions, but just as appropriate for the office when you add a matching blazer. The crepe material is also light enough for warm weather. The style runs slightly large so size down if you are looking for a closer fit.
Mixed Lace Flare Dress The dress’s almost uniformly positive reviews speak volumes: it is a versatile special occasions dress that isn’t mundane. If you’d just read me the description online, I would probably imagine something that is kind of chaotic looking, but it’s done just right here. The style runs slightly large, so size down unless you are buxom.
Linen Cotton Flare Dress If you like fit-and-flare silhouettes (as I do), you will love this dress. The material is medium-weight, which gives the skirt necessary shape and structure. I got the dress in black in stores and liked it so much I also ordered it in “quicksand” (a light tan), which is an online exclusive.
Lastly, in case I don’t get a chance to blog about the Tie Neck Sheath Dress before it sells out, it is an excellent dress option for those of you who will be guests at summer weddings. While the material is slightly wrinkle-prone and will require a thorough steam before wear, the dress is so perfectly cheerful and effortless (the “softly fitted” silhouette will allow for unrestrained feasting). While this dress has no defined waistline, I wouldn’t recommend sizing down as the high neckline is a snug fit.

And a few more wedding guest-friendly options:
Thank you Ann Taylor for partnering on this post!
