The J. Crew “Easy Pant” is part of the retailer’s effort to offer a (more) varied assortment of work-wear that can transition seamlessly into weekend wear. The style is simple–mid-rise, somewhat slim-fitted throughout, and a slightly cropped length–but details like the elastic in the back of the waistband and the short slits at the leg openings make these pants more comfortable to put on and wear. I now own it in a number of different fabrics–lace (from the bleisure capsule wardrobe), a smooth crepe, and linen–and colors.
The style fits true to size for J. Crew*, but is more forgiving on those who normally struggle with a waist gap. My normal size at J. Crew fits fine, but I sized up in the linen version for a little more room in the pantlegs (the trade-off is extra fabric in the rise that bunches when I move into certain positions).
The pant is unlined, but the linen blend is medium-weight (also, because it’s linen, it will hang on to wrinkles… so don’t crush it!) so VPL is not a concern here. I also own these in “white” and that color isn’t see-through either, though I would avoid neon underwear colors (or anything too different from flesh-tone) just to be safe.
* For those around my size, I sometimes order a size larger in J. Crew pants, as my legs are bulky relative to the rest of me–especially when I am running more in the warmer months. This style in linen fit my calves tighter than I would’ve liked in my “normal” size, so I went up a size. The easy pant in size 0P measures 12.5″ at the waist, 33-1/4″ in length, and 17.5″ at the hip.
