Satin Dress

The lingerie-as-daywear trend will never die for me. There is something potent and seductive about the going-from-bed-to-brunch-to-bed proposition (not literally, of course).

I packed the Satin Cowl Neck Dress that I am wearing here for a recent trip because of its potential to be both sleepwear and daywear. I had elected to bring just my Madewell Transport Tote (reviewed here) for this trip, and between the snacks and the gift I was packing, there wasn’t much room remaining for clothes. I wound up wearing this dress on all three days of my trip and aside from having to iron out some wrinkles with my flat iron every morning (side note: it dries fairly quickly; I would hand-wash it in cold water at night and it would be air-dried by the next morning), it served its purpose with flair.

You do have to pack backless bras for this dress, though, which worked great for my short trip as they take up little room. And if you, like me, don’t need much support, you can also just opt for these “adhesive bras” (or nipple covers if you don’t need any support), which are not uncomfortable to wear but do start to unstick around hour 4 (especially if you are sweating, which you will under a 100% polyester dress).
