If you are not looking to shop this week, I am sorry and have bad news: this blog will be even more shopping-centric than usual (if that were possible). The sale credited with destroying my shopping budget for the month is the Nordstrom Half-yearly Sale; I am lucky(?) to have like-minded friends who keep sending me recommendations and new finds throughout the day, which has led to many unplanned purchases.
And now I have a recommendation for you: One style recently discounted in the newest round of Nordstrom markdowns is this perfect-for-summer seersucker shirtdress, now 50% off and still available online in most sizes.
I thought its retail price was reasonable considering the material (98% cotton, 2% spandex) and the details (pleats, tie waist, pockets), and now that it’s on sale I can even recommend it with few reservations. Sure, the design can look juvenile on some, but on most I can see it being suitable for summer picnics and barbecues.
The fit is true to size for 1901, which has a more “junior” than “woman’s” fit; if you are top heavy, I would recommend ordering a size up. The dress in size 0P measures 13.5″ at the waist, 16″ at the bust, and 33.5″ in overall length.

Also, the Charles Henry Off the Shoulder Dress that I reviewed some time ago is now on sale in five colors. I didn’t keep this because the fit was overly blousy on me, but at this price point the dress is a very reasonable choice for summer days (if you are taller than 5’2 me).

I reordered the Burberry Medium Rucksack Leather Backpack (also available in blue and pink) that I returned earlier this year (primarily because I wasn’t sure how I felt about the chain detail) now that it’s 40% off.
I also want to mention that the Salvatore Ferragamo Vara Pump (which I own and love) is on sale (35% off) in black and there are still a number of sizes in stock. You can read my review here.
I currently have my eyes on these Self Portrait dresses:
