Floral Silk Dress

The beauty of a floral dress is that there’s basically no wrong way to wear one. (The problem has always been finding a print that you like and one that won’t date itself in a few seasons.) To those who puzzle over what to wear on the weekends in warm weather, one of my first recommendations is always: start with floral dresses.

To add some edge, wear it with ankle booties and a light moto jacket. To channel your inner (pre-Reputation) Taylor Swift, wear your floral dress with classic Mary Janes, a matching bag, and retro hair accessories. When the temperature dips, throw on a blousy sweater. Dress it up with heels, or dress it down with slip on skate sneakers. If I were less of a masochist, I would probably just fill my closet with floral dresses and never think about clothes again.

If you are in the market for a new floral dress, here are a few that I have my eyes on:

J.Crew Watercolor Floral Silk Dress (size XSP; also here. Check for popbacks) || J. Crew Panama Hat || Michael Kors Runway Gold-Tone Chronograph Watch || Prada Saffiano Medium Double Zip Top-Handle Bag in Larice (reviewed here) || J. Crew Academy Loafers in Leather (past season)

For those of you who are shopping this weekend, here’s a great sale worth browsing: Clearance styles at Victoria’s Secret are an extra 25% off with code 25BONUS today.

Also, a friend wrote to tell me that the super classic Balmain Double-Breasted Crepe Blazer is now 40% off (only small sizes remain). A more affordable alternative is the Lioness Palermo Blazer (which is a great Balmain dupe; see on me here) that I own, which is finally back in stock in size XS.

Happy shopping!
