I relinquished (for good) my much-loved Helly Hansen yellow raincoat to my mom the last time she “borrowed” it for months on end. And the search for a new yellow raincoat is on!
After trying on a few different styles (of which the Joules Right as Rain Waterproof Hooded Jacket was a close runnerup), I decided on the J. Crew Perfect RainJacket, though it’s far from perfect, even for me. What ultimately sold me on the style was the reasonable price point ($120 + 40% off if you add three more items to your order with code NEWNEW), the wide range of sizes available, and its lightness and packability.
J. Crew Relaxed Boy Shirt in Crinkle Gingham in Classic Navy (size 00) || J. Crew Perfect RainJacket in Rich Gold (size XXSP) || LOFT Skinny Tie Waist Pants in Dark Caper (size 00P) || Hunter Tour Packable Rain Boot in Black (also sold here and here) || Salvatore Ferragamo Ginny Leather Bow Shoulder Bag in Nero |
The jacket is lightweight and barely offers any defense against the cold, so will be reserved for warm weather. As only light layers are expected to be worn with it, you can safely size down.
Some details that I enjoy: drawstrings at the waist and hood; snap cuffs; front zip closure with snap storm placket; and large patch pockets and a chest zip pocket.
For those of you in the market for a new raincoat, here are a few more options for your consideration:
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
