As someone who does the bulk of her shopping online, I relied heavily on spreadsheets to stay organized, but manually entering information is cumbersome and time-consuming. Not to mention all the mental energy expended in having to monitor the delivery status of those orders. Furthermore, since I am not in the habit of checking my mailbox and the attached locker daily, when an order arrives by the USPS, it may sit for days before being claimed.

(okay, recycling cardboard boxes from those purchases is a close
second). I can’t imagine going back to my old system of keying in
tracking numbers into a spreadsheet to close out my day, and fretting
when I inadvertently lose track of a few shipments, which always seems
to happen at the most inopportune time.
Here’s how Arrive works: after you download the free app
(currently only available on iOS; it will soon be available on Android
devices) and register using your Gmail account, Arrive will
automatically scan your inbox for shipment confirmations and then pull
information from your order (details like order number, carrier,
tracking number, and the consignee’s address). It will then provide you access
to real-time status on your orders in one place on your phone. From the app, you can
find the carrier and the retailer’s contact information, place duplicate
orders, and even access the original order confirmation. I can’t stress
how easy this app has made my life.
Using Arrive to track all of my shipments this holiday season has made what used to be an onerous process a breeze. I get notifications when a package I send friends and family arrives, and if I happen to be out of town when a package arrives for me, I can also make arrangements to have a neighbor secure the package for me. I will never forget how, one year, I had an order arrive a week before the estimated delivery date, and when I got home from a week-long vacation, the package could not be located. Only after the snow melted in the spring did I discover its ghastly remains in the yard, having been blown away by heavy winds to a remote place and then fully blanketed by snow. With this app, these mishaps will never happen again!
