Millennial Pink is as mystifying and contentious as the generation it’s named after. Unlike Pantone colors, which have been standardized and can be calibrated for different color spaces, Millennial Pink is more inclusive, like the colors red and yellow. Most people associate it with those yellowish-orangish pink colors that often appear on Instagram, but many more blueless pinks have claimed the name for themselves.
But quibbling over the color coordinates of Millennial Pink misses the bigger point: pink need not be a gendered color. In a time when gender is no longer binary, the “pink for girls, blue for boys” rule is passé. And there’s no color more representative of this generation than the idea of Millennial Pink.
I liked my navy Blazer Dress with Pearl Buttons enough to also order it in pink: the cut-out shoulders detail and color make it flirtier than the puff-sleeved version. It fits about one-half to a full size small for Zara. If you are about my size, the dress in size XS should fit you well.
I also tried on the Frock Coat Dress in the same color. I really love multipurpose pieces, and this one works well as both a dress and a jacket. But, like the Blazer Dress seen above, the material used is unremarkable, so I can’t recommend it with enthusiasm.
I also want to mention that LOFT is running a flash sale today: take 40% off everything with code FLASH. Here are some of my picks: Botanical Charmeuse Bomber Jacket, Swing Jacket, Botanical Slip Dress, Vintage Soft Flutter Tee, and Tropical Cold Shoulder Swing Dress.
