The first quarter of 2017 hasn’t been kind to J. Crew: same-store sales declined another 14%, and bankruptcy rumors have been swirling around after the release of its most recent 10-K filing last month.
So, out of a misguided sense of chivalry, I have been trying to single-handedly boost J. Crew to profitability. While I don’t need this (adorable) bow sweater (see “gauguin orange” on me here) in a second color, I desperately want J. Crew to profit off me. Because, while I am certain that J. Crew will live on even if its current iteration were to fail, I really like Mickey Drexler’s J. Crew, warts and all.
