From The Fifth Book of Peace |
I have a slightly different list of links to share today. John Stuart Mill, in On Liberty, wrote, “a person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury.” Now’s not the time to sulk (or panic, as tempting as that may seem—you should’ve seen me Wednesday at 2AM lying prostrate on the floor and frantically refreshing my Twitter feed). One small way we can show support for causes and people we believe in is by volunteering with or donating to these organizations that work tirelessly and focus single-mindedly to safeguard the freedoms we sometimes take for granted.
