Review: Prada Saffiano Lux Bow Crossbody Bag & Prada Saffiano Bow Continental Wallet

Prada Saffiano Bow Continental Wallet // Prada Saffiano Lux Bow Crossbody Bag

Wallets on chains are a practical entry-level bag for those seeking designer wares with more affordable price tags. The premise is simple: a long wallet with multiple card slots, an optional zippered compartment for bills and coins, a dainty long strap for crossbody wear, and just enough room for a smartphone or keys.

The Chanel WOC is one of my first designer purchases, though in recent years I have become increasingly fond of Prada’s bow offerings in saffiano leather.

Pictured in this post are the Prada Saffiano Bow Continental Wallet ($670) and Prada Saffiano Lux Bow Crossbody Bag ($990); I added my own strap to the former so it can be worn on the shoulder.

The two bags are comparable in size and both have twelve credit card slots and three inner compartments (two outer open compartments separated by a center zippered pocket), though the “crossbody bag” (7.5″W X 4.5″H X 2″D) can accommodate a smart phone because of its wider profile, while the “continental wallet” (7½”W X 3½”H X
1″D) is limited to storing cards, bills, and coins.

These saffiano small leather goods with bows are considered “classic” styles and are released every season in at least a half dozen new colors. Prada boutiques generally have the best selection of colors compared to department stores.

And while Prada still selectively participates in gift card events, these opportunities have become rarer. Buying these styles on sale is still possible with the right connections (like a friendly SA). It’s also worthwhile calling stores directly if you have a style number come sale season, as Prada’s individual store inventory is shared company-wide.

For those looking for a similar style but with more room, consider the Salvatore Ferragamo Miss Vara Bow Clip Crossbody Bag ($750), which I plan to review soon.
