My outfits often mirror my mood, which partially explains why I wear a lot of black in the winter. And, for reasons unclear to me, throwing colorful outerwear over an all-black ensemble instantly improves my mood, however marginally, which is no small feat given that on winter mornings I am often straddling the line between needing to leave the house and wanting to stay home. When something works so intuitively, I don’t question why. I will just continue to buy pretty coats.
