Retailers that rely on strong outerwear sales to turn profitable are struggling as an unseasonably warm December slows coat sales. J. Crew was highlighted in this New York Times report as one company that could be badly hit if sales do not pick up.
All of this spells great deals for shoppers; I am banking on more harsh winters in my future so have been making outerwear purchases as prices continue to drop.
