For someone like me, who tires of her work garb easily, a good work blouse with some interest is difficult to resist. I’ve been intrigued by cooper & ella‘s designs (sold at Saks, NM, Bloomingdale’s, Shopbop, Piperlime, Madison LA, and Neiman Last Call) and was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to preview its holiday collection.
The material–polyester (and occasionally a combo with spandex)–that cooper & ella uses is substantial and opaque in darker colors; prices are in the low- to mid-100 range which are not unreasonable (and can be sweetened with any number of discounts that larger retailers offer). The Caroline Tailored Shirt in XS fit 5’2 me without any issues. For those with bigger busts, it may be necessary to size up. I’ve hand-washed the blouse only once to date (hung dry) but it’s held up well so I am optimistic about its durability.
My preference is for the more orthodox styles (like a button down with pointed collars or a crossover blouse) but cooper & ella also has fun designs with cutouts, layers, embroidery, and mixed textures, all of which can be easily reworked from casual wear to work wear.
And for those of you who are interested in purchasing the J. Crew Majesty Peacoat (reviewed here), four colors, including navy, are currently on sale with an additional 40% off (use code SNOW).
