Another fall, another frantic search for the perfect cape.
Last year I reluctantly kept a bargain basement-priced black cape, returned a slightly imperfect children’s wool cape, and discontinued the search mid-March. This fall, the search started on a high note; this C. Wonder trench cape seemed perfect at first; it’s the right color, the right material, and even the right price point (with discounts I got mine for a little under one Ben Franklin).
But problems surfaced immediately, the most tricky of which is the low placement of the armholes. Perhaps the trench is MEANT to stifle movement but I like use of my arms too much to overlook this issue; my mom, however, liked the cape and didn’t mind limited motor movements (I suspect this is only a problem for ladies who are short or have short torsos so this design could work beautifully for others).
Regardless, I was happy to borrow the cape to photograph. And doesn’t it photograph well?
