Pants Adventure: New York & Company Pants Review

The first two chapters of the monograph in which I embarked on a journey to find amazing pants were revelatory, if slightly insipid. I realized that for all my boohooing about believing in finding pants that required neither alterations nor compromise (on style), I eventually have to concede on one front. When confronted with that choice, I think I would undoubtedly choose the more stylistically attractive option and head down the path of pervasive alterations.

I have not yet ventured into department stores for their assorted if slightly chaotic collections and still hold out hope that a mall staple would have something for me. My search took me to New York & Company‘s online store, where its petite collection can be found.

I am not that familiar with NY&Co. since its investment in extended sizes is fairly new and limited to online. I always thought their styles a tad matronly and the workmanship unremarkable.

Having calibrated my expectations accordingly, my experience can be described as satisfactory. The material is more than adequate for the sale prices at which I purchased these pants but the fit had some room for improvement (for me).

I am 5’2 with a long waist and average legs, wear 3″ heels, and fall somewhere between petite and regular lengths at NY&Co.

I returned my entire order because I don’t have room for pants that are just “ok”–fit ok and
look ok. I do want to mention that NY&Co. sales associates are incredibly patient and friendly. Many store associates couldn’t help but look annoyed when I return more than 3 items at once but not NY&Co. employees (it could just be the location I visited, but I was impressed).
