J. Crew Factory Girls’ Printed Dress in Neon Persimmon

Against countless judicious advice, I decided to keep the Printed Dress in Neon Persimmon (blogged about here; currently sold out online but should still be in stores). People’s initial reaction to the dress ranged from “uh, that looks like an apron” to “is that maternity wear?” but my mind was made up and couldn’t be rattled.

I love the print on Cee and think it’s most versatile as an accent piece (like a scarf or a clutch) but the dress isn’t a bad choice either.

And I realize I have been breaking the cardinal rule of shopping for petite women: Stay away from the kids’ department. In the last month alone I added three dresses (Chevron Tank Dress and Striped Dress–worn here) from the girls’ department to my closet–in addition to trying several more. The insane heat and high humidity as of late both contributed to these less-than-ideal purchases.
