The first installment of this new series features Taiwanese retailer Mexy Shop. Jessy of Jessy Dust introduced me (along with her other readers) to the brand over a year ago and I’ve been intrigued ever since.
In a word, Mexy Shop is “safe.” Safe in execution, safe in price point, and safe in design. It features few truly exceptional or innovative creations but does supply many solid basics at reasonable prices.

Mexy Shop’s bread and butter are chiffon tops, polyester dresses, lighter knits, and elastic-waist bottoms. I didn’t spot many offensive or questionable designs and think it, by and large, shuns the frilly details that alienate many shoppers from this niche market.
The styling aesthetic does cater to a younger audience but I can see many of the same pieces reworked for a more mature style. The quality is fair and falls in line with the price range.
Most Asia-based retailers offer only two (small or medium) or three (S, M, or L) sizes with some styles available in only one size. I find that, based on the two items I
received, Mexy Shop styles do not fit as small as some of its competitors’.
Measurements that I took of the Polka Dot Boyfriend Jeans in size S: Waist: 15″, Hip: 19″, Total Length: 34″, Inseam: 28″, and thigh opening: 11.”
Measurements posted on Mexy Shop’s website: Waist: 14.2″, Hip: 18.5″, Length: 35″, Thigh Width: 14.3.”
At
first, I was concerned that the boyfriend jeans in small (also available in medium, large, and extra large) would fit me
too tightly through the leg but it ended up being an passable fit. For those of you who are similar to me in size, the
waist of the jeans will be about a size too big and will need to be hoisted up by a
belt.
The
jersey draped top came in only one size and was quite oversized on me. I
think it will comfortably accommodate someone up to three sizes
taller/bigger than me (not exactly shrimpy at 5’2 but definitely falls
short of average height).
It took the order twelve days, from the time of shipment, to arrive on my doorsteps (East Coast). I thought the service used – Priority Mail International Parcels – was fast for an international shipment and have no complaints on that front.
Mexy Shop services worldwide and provides a reliable tracking number (which I was able to track using USPS’s website). I believe stock photos are all taken internally and represent the products truthfully. That alone garners it at least a passing grade in my book.
Next up, Cherrykoko.
