I did a lot of shopping in April but didn’t keep much; I am hoping May will be an unproductive month for shopping as well. I am toying with the idea of doing shopping recaps at the beginning of every month but am not sure that’s entirely necessary.
Anyway…back to the topic on hand. My Diane von Furstenberg ♥ GapKids order was a big flop. I ordered two sizes – XL and XXL – and two styles to try on but did not decide to keep anything from the order.
The wrap dress was very comfortable (60% cotton, 40% modal) and the matching knit shorts were a nice touch but the proportions were all wrong for me (and I am only 5’2). I think someone my height should stay away from styles in this collection that have a defined waist.

Unfit for adult shapes aside, I thought the prints offered were very pretty and if the Snorkel Blue print were available in this T-Shirt Dress (which, given its shapelessness, might be most suitable for adults) I would’ve ordered it without a second thought.

This next style looks utterly ridiculous on me but for laughs and giggles I’ll still share the pictures. The same problems that bothered me about the wrap dress were still present and exacerbated by the fact that the romper is even shorter and the material less elastic (75% rayon, 25% polyester).

The romper in XXL is not as bad as the XL on me but it’s still far from flattering.

Next up…Lacoste marked down several styles recently and, as I am still looking to replace my white crewneck sweater, I am probably going to try this Long Sleeve Crewneck Cableknit Sweater which I hope will be less transparent than some other sweaters in similar styles I’ve tried this year.

Even though the weather has warmed up substantially (seasonably so, it is May after all), I am still drawn to leather jackets, especially ones in Spring colors. I am really intrigued by the Club Monaco leather jacket pictured below, the lemon and mint ones look especially delicious.

Also on my watchlist is this Ann Taylor Scalloped Crepe Open Jacket, which is available in both petite and regular.

J. Crew‘s 25% off sale will end tonight at midnight, enter code SPRINGBEST at checkout (cardholders get 30% off with code CARDSTYLE).
I came into some J. Crew gift cards via mom and even though my DvF for
Gap Kids order crashed and burned, I couldn’t stop myself from ordering
the Candy Anchor Dress from the Crewcuts section (Tam shared a fitting room picture of this dress on Instagram and it looks loose on her so I am hoping it’ll fit bigger me). I also got the Cotton Anchor Sweater, and the Café Capri in Gilded Brocade (capri version of the dress that I really wanted)
I am intrigued by the J. Crew Tartine Satchel which comes with a shoulder strap and is logo-free. Has anyone tried this or seen this in stores?

My previous J. Crew order yielded one keeper and I can’t say I am sad about sending back the rest. I ordered the Collection Cashmere Cable Sweater in navy and cream but didn’t like either enough to keep (even though $70 is a pretty good price to pay for cashmere sweaters).

The only item I ended up keeping is the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Navy-White Stripe.
I liked the texture of the skirt (52% linen, 48% cotton) and that it
doesn’t seem very wrinkle-prone. The fit is similar to other J. Crew
pencil skirts (the 00P measures 13″ across the waist, 17″ across the
hip, and 20″ in length). The skirt is lined so alterations will be a
little more costly.

I also ordered the Rugby-Stripe Dress
(100% cotton) which is available in three colors. The dress is plain
but I like that the fabric has a bit of weight and is not tissue thin. I
think I’ll order this again when it goes on sale. The dress in XXS
measures 31″ in length, 17″ across the bust, and 16.5″ across the waist.

If
you are smaller than me or have children that you can shop for,
Crewcuts dresses this season are so irresistible. As mentioned earlier, I
ordered the Candy Anchor Dress but I am not sure it’ll fit me. I’ll
update next week with my findings.
