Khatu asked me to fill in for her while she is lounging on some sandy beach in Punta Cana (she has no idea how much I wish our roles
were reversed). Visit her blog to read about my infatuation with trench coats.
Kate Spade‘s Friends & Family sale started today; use code S13FFUS for 25% off your entire purchase.
Too many bows? I think not. For those of you whose maximum tolerance for bows is one, check out the Bradshaw or Leigh.
I did not decide to keep the Essential Denim Jacket from a recent order. I am looking for something with a more cropped length. I also vacillate between wanting a darker-washed denim jacket and a lighter-wash one.
I spotted the Faux Leather Satchel from the last shopping update in a store and think the quality is passable for the price.
I browse Loehmann’s website a lot but rarely make a purchase. I am eager to try a few styles in the reasonably-priced footwear department but the fact that I don’t live near a Loehmann’s dissuades me from ordering (returns can be made by mail but return shipping is not a flat rate).
Moving on to Zara, whose spring line did not appeal to me as much as its fall collection did. I saw and fell in love with the Animal Print Jacquard Dress in a store and ordered the XS to try. The dress didn’t work for me because I neglected to remember that for TRF (junior sizing) dresses I normally size up to sizes S or M. The size XS was difficult to zip up for me and exposed more cleavage than what I am personally comfortable with. The pleated skirt is very pretty and I might reorder this in a size up to try.
I also saw the Office City Bag in brown (I own this in black) and asked my friend S to model for me. She’s 5 feet tall and very slim. I think the bag in black hides the cheap material better than the brown version.
One other item that I saw in store and ordered online to further scrutinize is the Maxi Pearl Necklace. At $29.90 it’s the most affordable of similar items I have seen but I’d rather have the Kenneth Jay Lane Simulated Pearl Cluster Necklace that Lissy blogged about recently.
Shop Ann Taylor’s 30% off sale online with code 4FRIENDS13. The new arrivals section is a balanced mixture of bright colors and more monochromatic prints.
On my own personal wishlist front: the black and dark brown bags I used with
frequency for the past few months now seem insipid and
incongruous. It doesn’t help that everywhere I turn a shiny white bag
or a vibrant green tote seem to call out my name.
One of the only keepers for me from Banana Republic as of late is the Chevron Striped Ponte Dress. I loved it on Ping but wasn’t sure if it would look “off” on me because of my frontal waist-to-hip ratio (or lack thereof). I decided to keep it even though it’s not particularly figure-enhancing but with strategic styling I should be able to make this work (the justification process begins…).
Lastly, the most impractical (and frivolous) purchase that I am currently contemplating is this Black Halo jumpsuit. At $390 it’s somewhat within grasp but not exactly budget-friendly so I will be watching this like a hawk until it goes on (serious) sale.
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you enjoy your weekend.
