Pleather pants were so far off my conceptual grid that I hadn’t thought about them much. I got my first taste several weekends ago while perusing the clearance racks at H&M. It, a pair of dark brown pleather pants with elastic panels, caught my attention immediately amid a sea of chunky knits.

I checked out with it despite skipping the fitting room and being unsure about how it would fit in with the rest of my wardrobe. For $10, I figured it’s a risk worth taking.

I at first thought it would be wholly unflattering but it exceeded even my best expectations (which were still dismal). For one, it is fairly easy to put on and remove (because of the elastic panels) and subverted my previous perceptions about pleather pants being a pain to wear. It is also warmer than cotton blend pants, denim, and sweater tights which were my standard guards against especially chilly conditions.

I am curious about your thoughts on pleather pants. I was ambivalent about them until I found a pair that I liked but I could just be wearing honeymoon goggles.
