I have poor circulation in my extremities and have to make more of an effort than the average person to protect my fingers and toes in the winter. I normally wear layers of socks under boots but for pumps I used to just cut up old socks and hide them in the toebox of the shoe. This method has served me well in the past but I am always looking for more attractive alternatives.
I recently ordered ProFoot Pump Pouches (currently $6.59; I got them for $5.88) from Amazon and think these work better than cut-up old socks (they also offer support for your toes, in addition to some warmth). You can cut off parts of the pouch if your shoe has a shallow vamp (I only trimmed off a small area because many of my shoes show a moderate amount of toe cleavage – see third picture below).
I also want to mention that the pouches take up quite a bit of room so they probably won’t work for shoes that fit snugly. I would recommend using them in shoes that are a 1/4/-1/2 size big.
I also ordered Peda Bella Toe Toppers Socks ($3.99) but those are just your run-of-the-mill athletic socks without the back and I really don’t think they are anything special. They are probably good for clogs.
