Good winter footwear should serve two essential purposes: protection against the cold and dampness. Rain boots in general do a good job of keeping out wetness but are not warm enough for New England winters, which is why boot liners and socks are often just as important as the boots themselves.
I normally turn to discounters like TJMaxx or Nordstrom Rack for affordable boot socks and once in a while will find deals at Saks and Neiman Marcus during sale season. I went a little overboard last month during a sale at Saks and picked up several pairs of Hunter Fleece Sock Liners and Basket-Weave Knit Cuff Welly Socks. If your rainboots fit loosely (thus allowing cold air to enter), these sock liners fill in empty spaces very well and will keep your feet cozy and warm.

I picked up two extra pairs of socks for a giveaway – a pair of Hunter Fleece Sock Liners (Red; Med/5-7) and a pair of Hunter Basket-Weave Knit Cuff Welly Socks (Grey; LRG/8-10). Sorry, ladies who wear size 10.5+ shoes, but XL socks weren’t available at the time (next giveaway will not be size discriminate, I promise).
Entering is easy, just answer three simple questions (see below). I will announce winners on Monday, January 28 at 9PM (the giveaway will stay open until 9AM). Contest ended.
