Wear It Five Ways : Purple Schoolboy Blazer

Blazers are undoubtedly versatile – there are hundreds of ways to wear one. I think “styling” a blazer is much easier compared to finding one that fits just right.

A carefully added blazer can be the force that pulls together an otherwise humdrum outfit. It refines but doesn’t flaunt. These days I voluntarily wear blazers without a dress code to compel me.

Left: J. Crew shirt, Gap jeans (similar), and Valentino shoes
Middle: H&M turtleneck, Forever 21 pants, Chanel necklace, and Zara shoes
Right: Forever 21 sweater (similar), Gap jeans (similar), and Zara shoes

One of my favorite ways to wear blazers is over embellished tops or dresses. I think blazers do an excellent job of framing and “containing” the frills.

Left: LOFT dress, Spanx tights, and Franco Sarto shoes
Right: Sretsis dress, scarf (borrowed from mom) and Ann Taylor pumps

Since blazers are more serious in tone, they (in duller colors) can “tame” flamboyant prints like floral and leopard as well as flashy colors like fuchsia.

Left: J. Crew dress and Miu Miu pumps
Middle: LOFT top, J. Crew skirt, and Miu Miu pumps
Right: Ann Taylor scarf, H&M dress (similar), HUE tights, and Valentino shoes

And the obligatory composite.
