I’ve reduced shopping at the kids’ department to a minimum but, upon seeing the Crewcuts Pleated Swing Skirt in Herringbone (now on sale for $46.99 plus an extra 30% off with MUSTHAVE), was eager to try it for myself. I was initially going to keep the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Herringbone, which is the adult take on this fabric, but didn’t feel the color was one that I would wear to the office frequently. The slightly more playful A-line silhouette was, I feel, a better choice for this color.

The skirt in size 14 measures 13 inches across the waist and 18.75 inches in length. However, the waist can be adjusted with the internal elastic waistband. Often times, the issue with shopping at the kids’ department is that the waist, hip, and length proportions are unflattering on adult women (as expected). The A-line shape, adjustable waist and the length gained by sizing up resolved all three issues.
Two other items that I ordered but have decided to return are the Maritime Dress in Wide Stripe and the Quilted Puffer Skirt. I really liked the Maritime dress but the length was inappropriate for even casual wear. The dress is 27 inches in length which falls at mid-thigh on me.

The quilted puffer skirt is interesting in concept but I don’t think I pull this off. The size 14 measures 12.5 inches across the waist and is 15 inches long.
