**** I still haven’t heard from the original winner of the J. Crew Marigold Necklace giveaway
so I had to redraw. The new winner is Liz P. Please contact me with
your shipping address and the animal you put down on the original form.
Thank you! ****
Thank you everyone for your inputs and suggestions with regard to my nude bag dilemma. I decided to hold off on the project for now while I explore the possibility of bejeweling it (thank you, Petiteish, for the idea).
For me, sitting around the house with two large bags of unused studs has been interesting. Since I was that kid who used to put stickers of hello kitty and sailor moon all over her brother’s belongings as a way of marking territory, it was only natural that I have now made it my mission to stud all of J’s favorite jackets, pillows, and t-shirts.
And when I ran out of his stuff to stud, I turned to my own. This sweater had been unworn since last winter and when I unpacked my fall wardrobe I found it a bit plain and it was on my short list for donation. I do like the slouchier fit and neutral color so I decided to experiment adding a line of studs across the neckline to give it a bit of edge.
I bought the pyramid studs used in this project from Studs and Spikes in packages of 100 – the silver is currently on sale for $3.10, which in my opinion, is a steal. Shipping was reasonable and calculated based on shipping weight. The studs have two prongs that can be folded back with pliers and I find them very easy to use.
Studding a row of sixteen studs took me about 20 minutes and it was really fun. I am terrible with my hands so I really appreciate it when I discover small projects like these that take my mind off things, are not very time consuming and feel rewarding.
I would recommend gluing small pieces of felt to where the prongs are folded down to avoid irritation where the metal might touch your skin.
I am currently infatuated with the idea of wearing a leather mini with a slouchy fit sweater for fall. It’s comfortable yet still stylish.
