I had wanted to do two giveaways for this blog’s second anniversary and was rather excited to have found the J. Crew Edie Wallet on sale last month. I figured I’d also do a quick review of the wallet while it’s still in my possession for those of you who might want to get it yourself (still available online in three colors and also in calf hair).
At first I was skeptical of the durability of the leather used (as it is consistent with that used for the Edie Purse, Edie Grand, and Edie Attache) since wallets are at increased risk for getting random scratches and the Edie leather seems especially scratch-prone.
And if you are bothered by imperfection in the leather, you will be happier in staying away from the Edie bags and wallets. Of the two wallets that I picked up – one for the giveaway and one for eventual holiday gifting – both have visible scratches on the exterior and while the scratches won’t bother most people I am sure there are many others out there who would be turned off by the susceptible to damage leather.
The wallet is secured by a lone turnlock closure and this feature will likely not bode well for those who are used to zip around wallets.
There are six card slots and one zippered compartment (I assume for coins) on the inside which should be enough for women who are minimalistic when it comes to their wallets.
The wallet measures four inches tall and seven and a half inches wide which seems fairly standard for a medium-sized wallet. I also think this wallet can pull double duty as a clutch (especially in the more vibrant colors…like red or blue) for increased versatility.
The Edie wallet is undoubtedly a chic looking wallet but is not supremely practical for people who carry more in their wallets.
And, if after reading this review you are still interested in it, you can buy it here or fill out a quick form below to win the flame (red) one. This giveaway will run for three weeks and end on October 21. I will announce the winner on the 22nd.
