LOFT is running a 12-hour sale – take an additional 50% off select sale styles tonight. Here are some items that caught my eye: Lace Pleated Skirt, Polka Dot Wedge Top, Tie Neck 3/4 Sleeve Cardigan, Herringbone Skirt, Seamed Sheath Dress in LOFT Scuba, Julie Ankle Pants in Doubleweave Cotton, Cloudy Spot Blouse, Wispy Feather Print Shell, and Seamed Pencil Skirt in LOFT Scuba.
taking a page out of J. Crew’s book, LOFT also has some animal bangles
that were such a hit with J. Crew fans. I really like this zebra bangle and the matching necklace as well as the Panther Pave Bracelet.
Happy Hump Day!
I know I can always count on trusty mall staples like J. Crew and Banana Republic to pull through with an attractive deal mid-week.
J. Crew’s 25% off discount (valid on purchases of $150+; use code
STYLE25 at checkout) works on the entire collection, sale or not. I’ve been meaning to try a few full-price items and this was a good enough discount for me.
After postponing the purchases of the
Classic Wool Mini several times, I finally decided to give it a try. I already own the famous No. 2 Pencil Skirt (Herringbone, Double Serge Wool, Brocade, Sequin, and Tweed) in several different prints and materials so I’ve decided to pass on them for now. I also considered the pleated maxiskirt from the J. Crew Collection and the Sterling Skirt but I think I’ll wait for further discounts.

The bubble necklace in numerous colors is also quite attractive but with all the various dupes on the market today, people are probably not eager to shell out $150 for them anymore.
I bought the Peter Pan Collar Sweater earlier this month – it is marked down to $49.99 in-store (still full price online). The material is pretty irritating so if your skin is sensitive it’s probably best to stay away. I plan to wear mine with a long sleeve tee underneath. If you like the style but have sensitive skin, try the long-sleeve t-shirt version in gray.

One of my splurges is the Sequin Zigzag Dress (also available as a top) – I rarely buy J. Crew on so little discount but wanted to try it before it sells out. I was also considering the lace dress from the J. Crew Collection and the Polka Dot Tie-Neck Dress (already marked down) but haven’t thought it through.

J. Crew makes some of the best work dresses – the Memo and the Origami are both styles that have been released season after season. You also can’t go wrong with the Director Dress, of which I own two.

Another item that I decided to purchase is the Lady Jacket in Double-Serge Wool – I ordered the yellow for my mom as I think it’s a style she likes (I feel guilty about long-term borrowing the Fanfare Jacket I got her last year). I was also thinking about getting the Boucle Peplum Jacket but it’s already sold out in navy.
The Schoolboy Blazer in Navy is a classic and almost never goes on sale. I think pending a systems error for J. Crew, this blazer won’t see better discounts than this. Or, if you already own the navy and want to add another color to your collection, try the Schoolboy Blazer in Wool Flannel (comes in 5 colors), in Velvet, in Houndstooth (with elbow patches), in Herringbone, in (luxurious) Italian Cashmere or in Eyelet.

If you absolutely can’t think of anything to buy (which, let’s face it, you know your cart’s already looking pretty full), you can’t go wrong with one of J. Crew’s chic coats. I already own the Lady Day Coat but this year’s colors are tempting me to own duplicates. I do love the Icon Trench in rich burgundy though and will probably try to order it on further sale. Other interesting coats include the Mod Coat, the Metro Coat, and the Tweed Topcoat.

Lastly, I have been coveting the Edie Grand in Gold and it is finally on sale but I think I am going to wait for slightly more discounts. I did order the Edie wallet (also in calf hair) as a possible holiday gift but was tempted by the two-tone Attache bag and the Edie Purse in Merlot.
In recounting my purchase I think I got a little too excited. Thankfully full-price items are not final sale so I can return them if they fall flat in real life. Please note that many things in the sale section are final sale so before you check out weed out your cart of questionable sale items.
On the Banana Republic front, sale items are an additional 30% off today in-store so if you are planning to visit J. Crew anyway to see some of the sale items in person you can swing by BR too.
Ann Taylor has more than 50 items marked down to less than $50. Here are a few well-reviewed items: Modern Slim Denim Jeans, Compact Doubleweave Slim Pants, Doubleweave Twill Flared Pants, Sporty Twill Tie Waist Cropped Pants, and Crepe Mini Dot Pants.

And I noticed that two Burberry Brit trenches are 33% off on the Nordstrom’s website this morning – they are not “classic” styles so may get discounted further. Nordstrom’s offers free shipping and free returns so if you want to try these the order and return processes are relatively hassle free (
Double-Breasted Trench Coat and Crombrook Trench Coat are the two styles on sale.)
