Petite Fashion Challenge #17: Candy Colorized

My favorite DIY/style blogger SewPetiteGal is the host of this month’s Petite Fashion Challenge and here’s the challenge she posed:

The Challenge: Candy Colorized

Take a bowl full
of colorful candies (M&Ms, Jolly Ranchers, jelly beans, etc.), close
your eyes, and draw 2-3 pieces.  Now use those colors (+ a neutral of
your choosing) to form the basis for your ensemble.

So…let me explain why there are no red peanut M&M’s in the mix. In between trying to find my camera and losing my memory card, I picked out all the red one’s and ate them. Call it cheating or coincidence, I only had the following colors to choose from.

So…I ended up with two colors. I can work with blue and green. I had to resist the urge to colorblock the heck out of these two colors but remembered that I had worn that outfit before so I decided to interpret the challenge a little differently. I ended up wearing blue and green and the shades in between.

As for my “neutral” color – I picked gold and kept it subtle. The bag hardware, the necklace, and the hints of gold in the bracelet give the outfit a little sparkle.

I think the end result’s not too shabby. It’s a smoother color transition and while not as eye-catching as color-blocking, I think it’s pretty interesting to look at.

And, before you run off to read the other entries for this PFC, I want to leave you all with some pictures of yummy food. What’s summer without burgers and hot dogs?! (ok, I got really hungry while editing these pictures and didn’t think it was fair that I had to be the only hungry person after dinner…so there!)

You can read the other entries for this month’s challenge at SewPetiteGal’s blog.

p.s. SPG’s  gorgeous peplum skirt (available in five prints) is now available through her etsy store. Thank you Jean for the tip!
