Polka dots are one of my favorite prints and I am partial to big dots. I already own a polka dot dress from F21 that temporarily satisfied my craving for big dots but I couldn’t resist this more ladylike offering with a longer hemline from J. Crew (also available as a skirt) when I found out it went on sale.
I am able to get both the 00P and 0P to try thanks to my friend Cat and LL, who helped me track down these elusive sizes in stores.
I have a few qualms about this dress but have decided to keep one. I haven’t made up my mind about which size to keep so if you have a strong preference, please leave a comment (or write me an email) and help me out.
The 00P is about an inch smaller than the 0P all around. I am currently leaning toward the 00P because that extra inch in length makes the 0P borderline too long for me.
The dress is made from a starched cotton and silk faille blend which gives the skirt portion a more structured shape. The bodice is fitted and the dress flares out at the waist. The dots are navy (even though they sometimes photograph black), the base is a glossy white. and the grosgrain sash is also navy.
The length is not particularly petite-friend. The dress in 00P measures almost 37.5 inches long and covers my knees (I am 5’2). I can see it being overwhelming on someone more petite than me.
Below is a chart of measurements that J. Crew’s Live Chat service provided me. It’s pretty close to the measurements that I took myself.
And without further ado, here’s how the dress fits me.

While this dress is still full-price online, the in-store price has dipped to $99.99. It’s worth popping into a local store for, if you love big dots as much as I do.
